Following on from the Community Sector Consultation Forums held in Darwin and Alice Springs in February, and the NT Government’s response to the Royal Commission recommendations, discussions are progressing on the proposed Tripartite Forum (recommendation 43.7 of the Royal Commission report).
Senior representatives from the NT Government (Department of Chief Minister, Territory Families and the RMO), the Commonwealth Government (Department of Social Services and Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet), and the Community Sector (APO NT and NTCOSS) met in both Darwin and Alice Springs this week to discuss the establishment of a Tripartite Forum.
Matters covered in the discussions included potential roles and responsibilities for the Tripartite Forum, its possible membership, and maintaining links with the broader non-government sector and with local communities. These conversations will make an important contribution to the process of drafting the Forum’s Terms of Reference.
